RED RIVER, N.M. (AP) – Authorities say a Red River man has been arrested in connection with a rollover accident that left a woman dead.
Taos County Sheriff’s officials say 29-year-old Christopher Lawrence is being held on suspicion of homicide by vehicle due to alcohol impairment and driving on a suspended license.
Lawrence was arranged in a magistrate court Wednesday and his bond has been set at $50,000 cash-only.
It’s unclear if he has a lawyer yet.
Sheriff’s officials say the single-car accident occurred Tuesday afternoon about a mile south of Red River.
They say the vehicle went across the roadway and down an embankment before rolling over one time, ejecting Lawrence and his passenger.
Authorities say 44-year-old Carmen Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene while Lawrence was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
