New Mexico lawmakers reject moratorium on charter schools


SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico lawmakers have rejected a proposed moratorium on new charter schools.

The bill failed on a 34-34 vote in the Democratic-led House. The purpose of the legislation was to address concerns about funding and accountability at the schools.

A number of charter schools have been under scrutiny for their financial management practices.
