The family court judge arrested last week for DWI says she’s planning to retire.

Police say Deborah Walker performed poorly on field sobriety tests after she crashed on Rio Grande while trying to make a U-turn.

Walker’s attorney released a statement Wednesday saying Judge Walker appreciated the seriousness of the allegations and immediately notified the chief judge of her intent to retire. He says she has also prepared letters to the state’s Supreme Court and the governor announcing her retirement.

It’s not clear when that retirement takes effect. The 65-year-old has been on the bench for nearly 25 years.
