ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An organization is offering summer adventures for girls across New Mexico.
The Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails are offering two resident camps that girls can go to for three days or more. These overnight camps are Rancho Del Chaparral in the Jemez and Camp Elliott Barker in Angel Fire.
At these camps, there will be the traditional activities, such as singing songs, making friendship bracelets, hiking, and star gazing, but also being offered is a week long camp with a lot more adventure.
Girls will have the opportunity to explore and develop creativity, challenge themselves on ropes courses, becoming a skilled equestrian, or even take to the kitchen with a pro-chef.
Girls will be about to choose how they want their summer to be.
There is a new camp this year also called “Urban Day Camp,” that will be held in Albuquerque. This camp, along with the others, is open to girl’s grades kindergarten through 12th grade and runs Monday through Friday through the entire month of June.
The Urban Day Camp allows girls to choose between trying their hand at cooking with an outdoor chef, get creative in the Doodlebugs session or dance their heart out with the Movin’ & Groovin” session.
Girls do not need to be a Girl Scout to join and mothers are welcome to join.
