New Mexico Film Foundation offering grant to make a western

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico Film Foundation is looking for someone who wants to make a western.

Before the surge in movie-making in recent years, New Mexico was mostly known as a place to film westerns. Now, the New Mexico Film Foundation is offering a $5,000 grant to a New Mexico filmmaker to continue that tradition.

Not only does the film need to be a western, it needs to revolve around New Mexico history, primarily set in the 1850s to 1920s.

Submissions will be accepted starting on Jan. 1.
