LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico dad who sparked an Amber Alert after allegedly abducting his 2-year-old son is out of jail.

Authorities say last week, 23-year-old Sergio Guadalupe Jacquez beat his son’s grandfather, then set his mobile home on fire.

When the grandfather refused to let Jacquez take the boy. Deputies say Jacquez left with the child, but returned him to his mother hours later.

Court records show Jacquez was released Thursday on a $60,000 bond.
