A Rio Rancho Couple says their pet falcon escaped this week while on a trip to Texas.

Greg and Becky Raybourn were in Lubbock for the North American Falconers Association Field Meet when they say their Gyr falcon, “Freya,” broke loose.

She was missing for nearly three days.

“We were very worried about her because she was attached to a leash and a ring that comes attached to the perch, so we knew she was going to get hung up on a tree,” Becky Raybourn said.

The couple says their friends spotted Freya in the Lubbock area on Friday afternoon.

They found her unharmed.

Gry falcons are rare and the largest of the falcon species. Some can fly as fast as 30 mph.
