The New Mexico Attorney General’s Office is suing a massive solar company and claiming it defrauded customers.

Vivent Solar operates an office in Albuquerque. The AG’s office says the company claims to be offering free solar systems, but ultimately forces New Mexico homeowners into 20-year contracts and drastically increases the money they owe them over time.

They say their investigation also revealed the company puts liens on those who don’t pay, keeping them from selling their homes.

The lawsuit calls for restitution to the thousands of affected homeowners in New Mexico.
