TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – There’s new information from Taos in the case of a murdered woman.
Ivan Cales Jr. is charged for the murder of Roxanne Houston, whose body was found in a shallow grave on Christmas.
Investigators once said that she died from a blow to the head, but now evidence has revealed that she was shot.
A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday to decide if there’s enough evidence against Cales to proceed with the case.
The judge decided yes, saying Cales tried to distance himself from the murder weapon – a handgun – as well as a car he may have used to transport the body.
Cales is charged with murder as well as two felony counts of tampering with evidence.
