New evidence prompts trial in neglected dog case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The man accused of killing Hubble the dog will go on trial for animal cruelty charges after all.

Alex Alariez and his wife Panchita were arrested in 2015 after Hubble was found severely emaciated with open wounds.

Despite intense efforts to save Hubble, he later died.

The charges were later dropped, but now we’ve learned that a judge has found enough evidence to take Alariez’s case to district court and to trial.

At this point, Panchita’s case is still at the magistrate court level. Her attorney had raised questions of competency.
