A new county program will help people being released from jail integrate back into society.
The Resource Re-entry Center will open this June at Fourth Street and Roma Avenue.
It will operate 24-7 and provide former offenders with temporary housing, food, medication management, drug rehab and job assistance.
“We’re gonna keep track of those people and we’re gonna make sure that we can take care of them, which in turn takes care of our community as well,” county manager Julie Morgas Baca said.
The center will be funded by Bernalillo County’s behavioral health tax.
It’s expected to serve roughly 21,000 New Mexicans released from MDC each year.
