New ABQ to Rio Rancho route eyed by council_92468

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque City Council member was in Rio Rancho on Thursday morning to discuss an upcoming project that could give drivers another route between the Duke City and Rio Rancho.

Right now the four-lane freeway called Paseo del Volcan dead ends near the Santa Ana Star Center, but lawmakers want to pave the whole thing.

City Councilor Dan Lewis was there to discuss the upcoming project. The 22-mile, four-lane road would start a new interchange at I-40 near Atrisco Vista. It would head north over the mesa up to Rio Rancho’s City Center and Highway 550.

The meeting took place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Presbyterian Rust Medical Center on Unser Boulevard.
