Neighbors support delay of new city planning regulations

News

Neighbors are supporting a city councilor’s move to delay the start of new city planning regulations.

City Councilor Cynthia Borrego is sponsoring a bill that would suspend the city’s Integrated Development Ordinance, or “IDO,” for another year.

She says there are outstanding issues and concerns about how the new planning and regulation rules will affect the future of Albuquerque’s west side development. Neighbors there, agree.

“One size fits all is not Albuquerque. It’s never been Albuquerque, and so we’re a little bit leery about the good plans on the west side. We don’t want them abolished,” said Dr. Joe Valles, West Side Coalition.

The Planning and Zoning Committee is set to consider the bill Wednesday.
