White House Christmas tree comes from North Carolina farm

A North Carolina Christmas tree grower says it’s like the Super Bowl for him and his family as one of their trees is headed to the White House for the holidays.

The National Christmas Tree Association selected Larry Smith for the honor.

The tree will be featured in the Blue Room arriving at the White House early next week.

Smith says it’s kind of like a fairy tale.

“So it’s sort of like a Cinderella story. This particular tree’s getting to go to the big ball,” said Smith.

The 22-year-old Fraser fir is 19-feet-tall.

Smith and his family will present the tree to First Lady Melania Trump on Monday.
