The U.S. Postal Service is testing out a new version of “Operation Santa” in seven U.S. cities.
This year, some customers are able to go online to read letters written to Santa, adopt one, and help brighten the holiday season for others.
“When you read some of the letters, sometimes it’s heartfelt, right? ‘We don’t have a Christmas tree’ and you know, ‘Bring Mommy a Bible,’ and, ‘Can you bring my little brother some cars?’ So you know, it pulls at your heartstrings,” said Marty Chavez, U.S. Postal Service.
If successful, the program’s digital version will roll out nationwide next year. The charity program has been around for more than 100 years.
