There’s been a lot of words used to describe 2018. The Oxford Dictionary has announced its 2018 World of the Year is “toxic.”

They chose the word arguing that it’s “the sheer scope of its application that has made its the standout choice.” A video was also posted to the Dictionary’s twitter page explaining their choice.

The word defined as “poisonous,” and first appeared in English in the mid-seventeenth century from the medieval Latin toxicus, according to Oxford Dictionaries.
