Sled dog racing is expected to take off in Silverton this season after years of cancellations.

According to the Durango Herald, after too much snow in 2017 and not enough last year, the races north of Durango haven’t been able to catch a break, but organizers are hopeful this year will be different.

This year’s races are scheduled for Jan. 12-13, and officials say the weather pattern is promising.

The event will also feature lessons and info for anyone interested in giving it a go themselves.
