Valentine’s Day has arrived, meaning candy and flower shops are gearing up for their busiest day of the year.
The South Bend Chocolate Company in Indiana has been preparing since November, making sure they can keep up with the demand for its chocolate-covered strawberries. Florists are of course busy as well.
Staffers say it’s not just about the ususal red roses this year.
“I’ve been in the industry for 12 years. Slowly, I’ve seen the progression of more people doing something different. They want something different. Not just your typical dozen roses,” said Candace Reeder, the lead floral designer at Granger Florist.
Granger Florist ordered 500 roses to make through the holiday. The South Bend Chocolate Company has been selling its dipped strawberries through Thursday.
