Five campgrounds near Durango closing temporarily

DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – Several Durango campgrounds are closing due to potential flooding.

The San Juan National Forest says five of its campgrounds, including South Mineral Campground, are shut down temporarily.

Officials say there’s been an unusual amount of snowpack still remaining above 12,000 feet, leading to high water flows.

The closures will remain in effect until July 8.
