Durango police force to utilize body cameras

The Durango Police Department will soon be arming its officers with body cameras. 

The department has been using dash cameras for about a decade, but will now use body cameras as well. 

The chief will be leading a town hall meeting on Wednesday to inform the public about the program. 

The department says the cameras, both body and dash, will cost about $100,000 a year. 

They will be buying 47 body cameras for the 55-member force.
