A Durango man has been identified as a repeat offender for feeding bears.
The Durango Herald reports, 61-year-old Roy Newman has been ticketed three times in the past eight years.
Last month was his most recent offense, because he intentionally left food out for bears in his backyard.
In 2010, Newman paid a $100 fine, in 2012 he paid $500, and most recently $1,000.
Wildlife officials say feeding wildlife is a danger for both humans and animals. It encourages the animals to get close to humans, and if a bear becomes a nuisance it will be euthanized.
