ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Wednesday is Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s “National Day of Remembrance.”
People in Albuquerque gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor victims of drunk driving.
Families were also able to write the name of a loved one and hang an ornament in their memory.
The event focused on helping families come together during the holidays.
“People know what the families of new victims are going through, so they get that sense of support,” said Bert Parnall, MADD board member.
Just last month, Lizeth Martinez-Dominguez, a mother of a 6-year-old was the passenger on a motorcycle riding on Paseo near Coors.
She was thrown off, hit the guard rail and died. Police say the Marcus Gomez was driving drunk.
