“Mutt Strutt” fashion show raises awareness on the link between domestic violence and animal abuse

Dog ambassador “Cinderella” dons her fancy gown for a fun event —  that’s raising awareness about a serious problem.

Positive Links is a nonprofit that works to raise awareness of the link between animal abuse and human violence and to reduce all forms of family violence in our community. Their biggest fundraiser of the year, Mutt Strutt, is going to be held Saturday, May 12, from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. at O’Niell’s Heights (3301 Juan Tabo NE).

Bring your doggies, dressed in their finest fashion, to enter into the fashion show. Prizes will be given in several categories: Best dressed pooch, Most fashionable human/animal duo, and Runway Master for that pooch who really “works it”. There will be great raffle prizes.

The Albuquerque High School Craft Club, Crafty Dawg, has been busy hand making dog and cat items for the raffle, including dog sweaters, dog/cat beds, toys and blankets!

Have dinner at O’Niell’s and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to Positive Links. There will be a vegan special of the day, so come hungry!

All this fun is a fundraiser for Positive Links; funds raised will go to support regional training on The Link for law enforcement and mental health professionals around the state.
