A festive art installation is headed to Albuquerque’s Civic Plaza.
Earlier this year, the Albuquerque Public Art Program asked local artists to submit proposals to transform donated pianos into an interactive work of art.
Friday, the city gave KRQE News 13 a sneak peek at the pinata-themed piano, which will be moved to Civic Plaza next week.
The public is welcome to stop and play it.
“The goal of the project is to invite artists to dress them up, make them festive and inviting and exciting and unique pieces of outdoor furniture,” City Public Art Division Manager Sherri Brueggemann said.
Two other pianos are also being transformed. They will debut at a later date.
