National Rural Health Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of every November.
More than 60 million Americans live in rural and frontier communities.
Rural communities have unique healthcare needs.
In light of this, Western New Mexico University is adding two new nursing graduate programs, a master’s in nursing, and a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate program next fall.
Both programs are focused on community and rural/frontier health.
Students will enter WNMU’s new Master of Science in Nursing for community and rural/frontier health program in Fall 2019 and begin matriculating into the workforce in just two years.
