Toys for Tots Season Kicks off with Annual Motorcycle Run

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Toys for Tots is an incredible charity campaign that puts a smile on the face of hundreds of kids each year.

Founded back in 1947, the program is run by the United States Marine Corp Reserves, which distributes toys to children whose parents can't afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.

This program isn't just putting a smile on a child's face, but also lets them know that people care about them and that they mean something.

Since 1947, the Toys for Tots campaign has branched out all across the country, with local cities hosting their own Toys for Tots Campaign right in their city.

Here in Albuquerque, the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Run is the kick off to the Toys for Tots season here in the Duke City.

The Motorcycle is a very large event that is going into its 14th year.

This Sunday, organizers say roughly 1,000 motorcycles will ride from Walmart on 528 near Enchanted Hills to Thunderbird Harley Davidson on Alameda.

At the event, Toys for Tots will be accepting donations of new, unopened toys.
