One in six Bernalillo County residents may not know where their next meal is coming from.
The Rio Grande Food Project however, is doing everything they can to change this unfortunate statistic.
The Rio Grande Food Project has been in operation for 29 years, doing all they can to feed the hungry.
In 2017 alone, The Rio Grande Food Project provided 1.1. million pounds of food to low-income individuals and families, averaging out to 4,230 kids, adults and seniors every month.
Every year, The Rio Grande Food Project holds a “Hike to End Hunger” campaign, helping raise awareness about this serious issue.
The Rio Grande Food Project envisions a community where everyone has access to enough quality food to live healthy lives.
They provide a week’s worth of groceries once a month, four days a week, while providing on-site access to community partner programs that address the causes and effects of food insecurity.
