September: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Cancer is a brutal disease that has affected all of us in one way or another, and it can be especially hard when a child is faced with this disease.

In the U.S., 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year; approximately 1/4 of them will not survive the disease.

This is a diagnosis that turns the lives of the entire family upside down.

In the U.S., the month of September is observed as childhood cancer awareness month to spotlight the different types of cancer that largely affect children, survivorship issues, and importantly, to help raise funds for research and family support.
