New Mexico is in the thick of the 60-day legislative session at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe and one of those legislative bills would allow naturopathic doctors to be licensed and regulated in New Mexico.
Naturopathic Doctors are trained to be primary care doctors, just as medical doctors are. They also learn nutrition, herbal medicine, physical medicine and the importance of lifestyle on health, such as healthy stress management.
These physicians spend more time with patients in order to understand all the components of health and treat the root cause of any imbalance rather than just the symptoms with an aim for individualized, whole body medicine for optimal health.
This is the catalyst behind a 60+ mile run, led by the New Mexico Association of Naturopathic Physicians (NMANP) who want to draw attention for the need to license Naturopathic doctors.
“The Run” takes place February 10 through the12 beginning in Albuquerque with the Sweetheart Run that consists of a 5K, 10K and kid’s 1K run and continues from Bernalillo to Jemez Springs, finishing at the State Capitol steps in Santa Fe.
