Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network’s Buddy Walk unites community for common cause

Mornings

A nonprofit organization looking to empower those with Down syndrome, the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network’s goal is to spread awareness and promote independence for those with the condition.

The organization is holding their 2019 RGDSN Buddy Walk Saturday, September 21 at the Balloon Museum to unite the community for a common cause and to help raise funds.

Derek Barreras’ Superfly Crüe is a team participating in the walk and has done so for the past three years. Since it’s the 10th birthday of RGDSN’s Buddy Walk, his team is trying to raise $10,000 collectively, doubling what they did last year.

A top fundraiser, Derek’s team is currently in the lead, raising $1,120. They will be at Old Town Farm selling raffle tickets for prizes, face painting & games for the kids and collecting donations, cash, check and credit cards accepted.
