Operation Christmas Child aims to make a difference this holiday season

Mornings

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that collects shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items, and fun toys and delivers them to children in need around the world.

Many of the recipients of the gift-filled boxes have never received a gift before.

Considered the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough gift-filled shoeboxes to donate to 11 million children from over 100 countries.

The Central New Mexico area team hopes to contribute 29,600 shoebox gifts toward that goal.

National Collection Week for shoebox gifts is November 12 through the 19, when nearly 5,000 drop-off locations across the country will open to collect shoebox gifts.

There are 5 drop-off locations in Albuquerque, including Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, Asbury United Methodist Church, and Sonrise Church.
