New additions to New Mexico State Fair rodeo

The New Mexico State Fair is just one day away, and the anticipation for this years Fair is through the roof.

One of the most popular events at the New Mexico State Fair year in and year out is the rodeo.

This year the rodeo will have a new look and feel.

State Fair officials are changing things up a bit with a new stock contractor and a new rodeo announcer.

The Hi-Lo Pro Rodeo calls Wellston, Oklahoma home, but General Manager, Dustin Murray has deep roots in New Mexico and memories of competing in county fair rodeos and winning a state wrestling title in Tingley Coliseum.

Murray, says this year’s new stock contractor, is a Cibola High School graduate and will return to Tingley Coliseum in a much different role.

The new announcer is Doug Mathis.

A member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, since 1995, Doug Mathis is ranked as one of the top announcers in the country.
