Local pipes and drums band honor the fallen with their music

The New Mexico Fire and Police Pipes and Drums along with the New Mexico Emerald Society are a Bagpipe and Drum Band that was formed to provide funeral honors for members of our nations Military, Law Enforcement, EMS Systems, and Firefighters.

Their mission is “To Honor The Fallen.” The band was formed in 2007 as the New Mexico Firefighters Pipes and Drums after seeing a need for public safety bagpipes and drummers at the line of duty deaths.

The band is made up of Firefighters/active and retired, Law Enforcement Officers/active and retired, EMS providers, Paramedics, and Military/active and retired.

They have members that are not public safety or military-related as well. Nobody is turned away who wants to play and or learn to play.

They consider themselves a free education group for learning the bagpipes and drums and will teach for free if anyone wants to learn.

They are currently working to become a Non-Profit 501(c)3 so they are able to help cover the costs of traveling to and from memorial services throughout the state.

They all play for the love of the music that comes from the pipes and drums. All members are volunteer pipers and drummers and pay out of pocket to travel to these events and purchase the uniforms they wear.

They do not charge for their services but they also won’t turn down a donation. They also perform at Graduation events, March in parades, and of course, go to many places on St. Patrick’s Day.
