Local boy forms 5k race to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis

Connor Johnston is a 9-year-old boy with Cystic Fibrosis.

When Connor was 6-years-old, he ran his first 5k and loved it. He wanted to organize a 5k to help raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help find a cure. He thought that having people exercise (which he knows is important in keeping him healthy) while having fun would be the perfect fundraiser.

A few months later, the 1st Connor’s Causes 5k or 1-mile walk happened. This is Connors 3rd year helping organize a 5k for Cystic Fibrosis.

It is scheduled for April 6, 2019, in Socorro, New Mexico at 9 a.m.

The race course starts at the Socorro City Plaza, loops around New Mexico Tech Campus and returns to the plaza. Connor has a goal of 200 people participating. The 1st 200 people to sign up receive a t-shirt and a mini cupcake after the race. For more information, click here.
