December 7 Morning Rush: Rain and snow push across northeastern part of NM


1. Rain, snow and wintry mix showers will continue to push northeast across the state Friday morning, Snow in the higher elevations and a rain/icy mix in the valleys/lower elevations will cause difficult driving conditions on Friday.

2. The Albuquerque Police Department is asking for your help in finding a missing two-year-old girl. Luciana Naquayoma was last seen on Wednesday with her father Jesse Villagrana. According to police, Villagrana had been staying with his ex-wife for six days when he left, walking with Luciana to get his car from his mother’s house. Police say Villagrana picked up the car, a white 2017 Toyota Corolla sedan and left with Luciana. Luciana is described as having brown hair and brown eyes with a small scar over her right eyebrow. Villagrana is about six-foot-two with brown hair and brown eyes. Police say Villagrana is known to use meth.

3. New video shows the moment that sparked a woman in a wheelchair to sue the city that ended in one of the biggest settlements this year. Still, the transit department is saying the driver did nothing wrong. Surveillance footage of the 2014 incident shows the driver warn passengers, as he slams on the brakes, throwing Betty Hernandez from her wheelchair to avoid a crash. The lawsuit claims negligence saying the driver didn’t secure Hernandez to the wheelchair with a seatbelt. Hernandez reportedly had fractures to her neck and ribs.

4. Thursday teachers, students and first responders will gather at Aztec High for the one year anniversary of the school shooting that took the lives of two students. Investigators say William Atchison hid in the bathroom that day before first shooting Francisco “Paco” Fernandez and then shooting Casey Jordan-Marquez in the hallway. An Aztec High teacher recalls that morning in a new book to prepare other teachers in case it happens in their school.

5. A 9-year-old YAFL team has what it takes to take the top spot in a national youth championship but they need your help. The Volcano Vista Hawks are raising money to help them get to the pro football hall of fame in Canton, Ohio to compete. If they win three games they will be world champions for their age group.
