Career opportunities for Albuquerque students

Mornings

If you’re a high school student and you don’t know what path you want to take after graduating, don’t worry; there are multiple career opportunities for Albuquerque students thanks to the Career Enrichment Center (CEC).

The Career Enrichment Center is the premier Career Technical Education Center in the state and the APS Flagship for College and Career Readiness currently consists of students from every comprehensive high school in APS plus students from APS Schools of Choice, APS Charter Schools, and home-schooled students.

CEC provides transportation from all APS Comprehensive High Schools to CEC and back to their home school for four different sessions of CEC classes.

CEC also offers many certification programs, apprenticeships, mentorships, internships, and many Dual Credit courses through UNM, CNM, and IAIA.

Some of the opportunities for students in Albuquerque include:

  • LPN Nursing program
  • Certified Nursing Assistant program
  • Cosmetology
  • Automotive Technology
  • Financial Services through a partnership with Nusenda
  • Police Service Aide through a partnership with APD and the Mayor’s office

And the newest and greatest partnership is with Alb Fire Rescue.

Their growing partnership includes lowering the hiring age to 18 for students who qualify.
