Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy’s principal outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, with 210 Navy Weeks held in 74 different U.S. cities.
The program is designed to educate and help Americans understand that their Navy is deployed around the world, around the clock, ready to defend America at all times.
Albuquerque was one of 14 cities selected to host a week-long celebration in honor of Navy Week.
Senior Navy leaders will engage key influencers including the mayor and other local officials.
They will reach out to civic organizations, educational institutions, and corporations to build relationships with community leaders.
Representatives will also engage with citizens to discuss the ongoing Navy efforts in the oceanography and meteorology fields.
