The 2018 New Mexico State Fair is underway, and one aspect that’s very important for both the fair and the kids, is the 4-H/FFA programs.
4-H is the largest positive youth development and mentoring organization in the United States.
Kids who participate have the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about livestock, farming and agriculture.
The New Mexico State Fair hosts multiple showings, demonstration and selling events among other fair activities.
These programs offer information and experience that kids would not be able to get anywhere else.
A bunch of the kids who participate in the programs have the chance to purchase and take care of actual livestock, in preparation to show and possibly sell at the state fair.
Then, they get to use any money they get from sales to use toward purchasing more livestock or put towards secondary education.
