Monster truck driver teams up with nonprofit to surprise Albuquerque girl

News

A 9-year-old from Albuquerque got a very special surprise Thursday from one of her heroes.

In 2015, Elaina Cervera’s dad, John, was honorably discharged after spending nine years in the U.S. Army. Now, thanks to Operation Home Front, the family is just months away from owning their own home.

Thursday, the nonprofit and monster truck driver, Linsey Read, partnered up to surprise Elaina with a Moster Jam themed bedroom makeover. Elaina says she loves monster trucks and one day wants to be just like Linsey.

“That was so cool because she is like how boys say girls can’t drive monster trucks, but some girls can and they’re not always right,” she said.

Monster Jam also donated 200 tickets to Friday night’s performance at Tingley Coliseum to other Operation Home Front families.
