Mom petitions for safety barriers at Durango park

News

DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – A Colorado mom is pushing for change at a Durango city park.

Janae Roithmayr has started a petition to make Santa Rita Park safer. Right now, there are no barriers between the park, Highway 550, the Animas River, or the parking lot.

Roithmayr says children are curious and accidents can happen in the blink of an eye.

She’s not the only one with concerns — 197 people have signed the petition so far.

It will be presented to the Durango City Council next week.
