Missing couple from California found in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A couple from California traveling through New Mexico had to be rescued after taking the scenic route.

The family of Kimberly and David Duran reported the couple missing on Monday after they didn’t return home from a trip to Mississippi. Police tracked their phones and got a signal from Cibola County in the middle of National Forest land.

State Police used off-road vehicles provided by Game and Fish to navigate through the muddy, snowy roads and finally found the Durans, two days later. They said their van got stuck in the mud and they survived on food they had with them and drank melted snow.

Their family drove from California to meet up with them in Gallup.
