Middle school students start their own nonprofit


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Some middle school students are trying to make a big difference by started their own nonprofit.

The 7th graders from Van Buren Middle School have created the group called Goody2Shoes.

With the help of the community they collected hundreds of used shoes and canned goods for the homeless. They also set up their own fundraising website and even applied for a $2,000 grant.

“It’s incredible to know that we can help, just us middle school kids can help be more in the community,” said group founder, Ken Web.
