Meth trafficking lands man behind bars

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – A Hobbs man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking.

Prosecutors say 58-year-old Clinton Leroy Skippings also was sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised release.

Skippings was arrested in December 2013 on a criminal complaint charging him with possession methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to distribute.

Lea County Drug Task Force officers executed search warrants on Skippings, his home and his vehicle in October 2013.

They reported seizing quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, more than $6,800 in cash plus packaging materials and other drug paraphernalia.

He pleaded guilty in the case last March.
