Mayor Keller pledges to keep Albuquerque’s Wi-Fi open

Mayor Tim Keller says Albuquerque’s internet will remain open.

The push follows a federal rule change allowing internet providers to block websites and charge more for faster internet speeds.

The rule change hasn’t taken effect yet, but if it does Mayor Keller says Albuquerque will be prepared.

He’s pledged to only do business with providers that agree not to block or slow content on city sites and to keep public Wi-Fi free.

He joins 80 other U.S. mayors in the pledge.
