Man sentenced to life for Albuquerque woman’s murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the men who shot and killed an Albuquerque woman and her friend in Arizona is going to prison for a long time.

Andrew Lauro was sentenced to life on Friday with the possibility of release after 25 years. He pleaded guilty in May to murder and burglary.

In connection to the killings of 70-year-old Barbara Leslie and 75-year-old Ruth Schwed, a longtime APS teacher who was visiting.

Leslie’s SUV was missing from the home and was later found at a Phoenix apartment complex.

The second suspect, Montez Wright III, is still awaiting trial.
