A New Mexico man is facing a possible year-and-a-half in jail for shooting and injuring his neighbor’s dog.

Gustavo Filerio, 30, fired at least 18 rounds at a blue heeler in Anthony, N.M. last June.

The bullets hit the dog at least three times.

The dog survived but required extensive care.

Filerio pleaded guilty to extreme cruelty to animals this week.

His sentencing has not yet been set.
