Man pleads no contest to extreme animal cruelty charges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A convicted conman has pleaded no contest to extreme animal cruelty charges.

Shuan Anaya used power tools on a puppy in the backseat of his car back in June. At the time, he was on probation for conning people into renting foreclosed properties that didn’t belong to him.

Last week, a judge said there was enough evidence he had violated probation and ordered him to serve out two more years under his original sentence.

Under a plea agreement, Anaya will not have to serve any more jail time, but will have to attend anger management and animal abuse treatment courses.
