An Albuquerque man who played a major role in a nationwide dog-fighting ring has been found guilty in another state.
In January, KRQE News 13 asked Robert Arellano about his involvement in an operation that was breeding fighting dogs and shipping them around the country.
This week a federal jury in New Jersey, convicted Arellano and three others to taking part in an animal fighting venture.
They were convicted with evidence that Arellano sold and shipped two dogs by air cargo from New Mexico to New Jersey in 2014.
One of the dogs was seriously hurt in a test fight the next day.
Arellano will be sentenced in February. However, he will face another federal trial in New Mexico in November.
Five others involved with the operation had already pleaded guilty and were each sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.
