Man convicted of murder to be sentenced for kidnapping case

The man who murdered his parents as a teen was scheduled to be sentenced Friday for his part in another case, however, that sentencing has been postponed.

Mitchell Overhand spent 22 years in prison for killing his parents in Albuquerque when he was just 15 years old.

Earlier this year, he was convicted in another recent case of false imprisonment and conspiracy.

Police say Overhand Chase Smotherman and Mariah Ferry kidnapped a man then forced him to look at a picture of his mutilated and dead friend John Soyka.

Overhand’s sentencing was postponed until Wednesday, Sep. 5.
