Man arrested following violent carjacking

TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – A man is behind bars in Taos accused of a violent carjacking.

The sheriff’s office says Daniel Gutierrez was walking in the middle of Highway 522 yesterday.

When a driver stopped, they say Gutierrez jumped into the truck, pointing a gun at the victim and struck him in the face.

Hey demanded the man get out and dragged the victim behind the pickup for a short distance.

Deputies caught up with Gutierrez and a chase began. He surrounded shortly after.
